A tragic road accident early Tuesday morning at the Soka area of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway in Ibadan, Oyo State, has reportedly claimed the lives of about ten people. The crash involved three Nissan Micra taxi cabs and three articulated trucks, all traveling from the Iwo Road axis when the collision occurred.
Eyewitnesses described a chaotic scene with several casualties and multiple vehicles severely damaged. Some victims were trapped and required rescue efforts by passersby and emergency responders. Security agents were present at the scene to control traffic and assist with the rescue operations.
The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) confirmed the incident but reported a lower death toll of four with one injured, highlighting that the accident involved seven vehicles including private and commercial cars and trucks. The FRSC urged drivers to avoid excessive speeding and practice defensive driving.
Efforts to get an official statement from the FRSC at the time of reporting were unsuccessful. The bodies of the deceased were taken to Adeoyo State Hospital morgue, and investigations into the cause of the accident are ongoing.
Further updates are awaited as emergency services continue their response to the crash.
