She said, “Make una pray for Mr President abeg, but we go work for una and Nigeria will be better because I want to enjoy Nigeria in old age.”
A Personal Appeal
ValidViewNetwork gathered that First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu has appealed to Catholic mothers in Imo State to support President Bola Tinubu’s re-election in 2027, stating that she wants to “enjoy Nigeria in old age”.
Tinubu made the remarks on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, during her official visit to Imo State, where she met with members of the Catholic Mothers Association.
She also received a chieftaincy title from Imo traditional rulers.
“Make Una Pray for Mr President”
Addressing the Catholic women, the First Lady said:
“Make una pray for Mr President abeg, but we go work for una and Nigeria will be better because I want to enjoy Nigeria in old age. I’m working for my old age; that’s why we are doing all we are doing right now”.
She urged the Catholic mothers to continue praying for President Bola Tinubu and the country, expressing optimism that Nigeria would emerge stronger under the current administration.
A Second Term Campaign
The First Lady’s appeal is part of the broader campaign for President Tinubu’s re-election in the 2027 presidential election.
She said she is personally interested in seeing Nigeria improve because she hopes to enjoy the country in her old age.
Chieftaincy Title and Empowerment
During the visit, Tinubu also empowered 2,500 women in Imo State, adding N100,000 cash to each beneficiary.
She expressed gratitude to Imo State Governor Hope Uzodinma and his wife for their support and encouragement.
A Lesson for Nigeria
The First Lady’s appeal is a reminder that the pursuit of power is often personal.
The same politicians who ask for votes will never allow their own children to be denied the benefits of good governance.
Their families are protected.
For Nigeria, the lesson is clear: leadership is about service, not just personal ambition. The same leaders who campaign for re-election must be held accountable for their promises.
