Marriage, a union between between two love birds, is considered as the only institution that one gets a certificate at the commencement of the course. It is a course with diverse synopsis such that no two synopsis are entirely the same. Most importantly, it is the only institution ordained by God Almighty. It is therefore considered an important point in the life of every man.
It is in celebration of the union between Chukwuka Evaristus Udeh and former Miss Mary Ochanya Olofu that families and friends gathered in the city of Abeokuta on Saturday, August 26 to witness the beginning of a great family and wish them well in the journey ahead.
Both Chukwuka Evaristus Udeh and Mary Olofu graduated from the prestigious Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, Nigeria. While Chukwuka is currently a certified Grade 1 referee and Technical Suppport Engineer with Zeta -Web Nigeria Limited, Mary Ochanya Olofu is a Project Manager at Snapnet Nigeria Limited.
In this interview, ValidViewNetwork looked at how the couple met, their conviction and goals.
Can we meet you please?
I’m Chukwuka Evaristus Udeh.
Can you share with us how you met your spouse?
I graduated from the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta in 2015. Immediately after my project defence, I had an assignment to anchor a church program at St. Martins Catholic Church, Eleweran, Abeokuta. It was a Praise Night and I was looking for who to anchor the praise and worship session. I contacted Owen Nana, my University mate to help out but he confirmed that he had travelled to Lagos and shared the contact of Mary Olofu (My partner) with me that she was based in Abeokuta and would be happy to assist. Unfortunately, she had also travelled to Delta state for a vacation. To confirm to us that God Almighty had His purpose for the program, we made use of what we had and the program was a huge success. When I got to NYSC in 2016, I saw the contact on my phone and the rest was history.
How do you feel getting married to her?
I cannot explain the feeling actually. I feel fulfilled. it is eternal to know that I ended up with the first and last love of my life. I’m super grateful to God for making today a reality.
What are the attributes in her that swept you off your feet?
I can write a thesis on that. I have evaluated her using spiritual, physical, emotional and financial templates and can only thank God for being kind to me. She’s a goal getter. She’s very organized. She is very trustworthy. She’s very kind and genuine. She is financially principled adopting the principles of critical planning and strict adherence to budget.
What are the topmost goals of the marriage?
We have been friends, lovers and now spouse. We are determined to make the best use of our strengths while working on our individual weaknesses on a daily basis. We want to look back and be proud of ourselves. We want everyone who has participated in celebrating the joy with us to see us in years to come and be happy that they were part of it. We want our life and our marriage to be an inspiration to others.
We will be committed to companionship, effective communication, intimacy, forgiveness, prayer and giving. We know we cannot do anything without God and we will make Him the fulcrum of our lives and of the marriage.
Who are your role models?
In marriage I do not have any role models beyond my parents. They are my role models. I cherish how they love and care for each other and everyone around them.
I learnt a lot from them about how to make the best out of everyday situations. I am determined to make them proud.
Friends of the couple have been celebrating and praying for them, wishing them a success in their marital journey.
According to Ola Dosumu : ” I am a former class mate , friend and brother to Anderson. I wish Nkem and Andy a joyful and fruitful matrimony. I know Andy has always been a great and loving person I encourage him to continue being his amazing self”
George Ukato, a very good friend and colleague to the husband also stated : ” I pray the union will be fruitful and God Almighty will continue to provide all of their needs to keep the marriage healthy and wealthy. The couple should continue to keep sparkling friendship, love and affection as always”.
Truly, the gift of a man makes a way for him. The gift of Mary Ochanya Udeh served as the genesis for what later blossomed and metamorphosed into a union. Hear her
Can you share with us the genesis of the union?
” I’m a vocalist…so in 2015, a friend, Owen linked my husband up to contact me to assist him with praise and worship session at St. Martins Catholic Church, Eleweran, Abeokuta for the praise night he anchored but unfortunately, I wasn’t in town to help. There was no other phone call from him until 2016 when he called and asked me to forward my pictures and the rest was history.
I’m still in awe of the whole thing really, I’m overwhelmed by how God loves me so much that He made my man the crown of my head. I married the most unconventional man ever, It wasn’t an easy ride but yes, God’s Mercy came through for me. I’m extremely proud and grateful”.
What are his most outstanding attributes?
According to Mrs Udeh, the husband is an amiable personality and therefore she is thankful to God Almighty for giving her a man she succinctly described as Mr. Fix it.
In her words : ” My husband is a very like-able person. He makes friends easily, inconvenience himself to make others happy, He is a Catechist, a teacher of faith, love the things of God, loves families, children and instructs them to know God. My husband is a very smart guy, I call him “Mr. Fix it”…no matter the circumstances, he already has a way out…he’s very intelligent and has a good heart, he’s principled and focused. Everybody around him is his brethren”.
Joining their parents, ministers of God and well wishers in wishing the two love birds success are their numerous friends . While wishing them unprecedented blessings of God Almighty in all ways, Mgbor Uzoma Franklin charged them to continue in love, peace and understanding. Eleojo Amme on the other hand prayed to God Almighty to hold their hands and walk through them in the journey ” More than wishes, I pray that God walks this journey holding both of your hands together in wholesome love, with God on your side, forever is just the beginning. I Love Love You both so much!”, Eleojo stated.
Surprisingly, both of them have their parents as their mentor in marriage.
