Heartbroken Bride Mourns Husband Killed in Tragic Car Crash Weeks After Wedding

A grieving bride has paid tribute to her husband, Jerry Maloney, who was tragically killed in a car crash shortly after their wedding. Nineteen-year-old Jerry died as a passenger in a pickup truck

He had been taken to Naas General Hospital in County Kildare, the Republic of Ireland, but was later pronounced dead. The driver of the car was taken to Tallaght Hospital in Dublin with non-life threatening injuries. Jerry’s funeral today was attended by Chloe, and his parents James and Bridget, siblings Katie, Miley, Helen and Johnny at St Conleth’s Parish Church in Newbridge, a town in County Kildare.

Jerry was described as ‘lovely’
The parish priest Father Ruairí Ó Domhnaill said the funeral of “Traveller man” Jerry was “going to be one of the hardest days” for his family, Irish Mirror reports.

Jerry’s niece Ellen read a tribute on behalf of Chloe, saying “you loved me with every piece of your heart” and “we made a vow” to be together forever so “we will be together again in heaven” and, until then, “sleep tight, my baby”.

Ellen also fought back tears and said she was “lost for words”, adding that their family is “not going to be ok”.

She said Jerry “loved his Chloe so much” and wanted them to marry but “when he got all that he dreamed of, he didn’t get to enjoy it” because “you lost your life too young, only 19”.

Katie, Jerry’s sister, said: “What are we ever meant to do now? It shouldn’t have been like this, my lovely big, fine brother. Never be a boy like you again. Love you with all my heart. Please, Jerry watch over all of us and your wife.”

Father Ó Domhnaill said: “The sadness of this day has been compounded by things that have happened in the town. They have made the sadness even more difficult. I want his message to go out. You have carried yourselves with absolute dignity.

“I want to say that publicly. All of you showed such respect in the church and showed such respect for Jerry. You were an example for everyone.”

Following the crash, local councilor Peggy O’Dwyer spoke of the shock felt in the community.

Ms O’Dwyer, who lives close to the site of the crash, said on Facebook: “I want to express my sincere condolences to the family of the young man who tragically lost his life. It’s terribly sad news.”
