The recent completion of the Abdullahi Yero Asphaltic Road in Abakpa marks a significant achievement in Governor Uba Sani’s ongoing efforts to improve Kaduna State’s infrastructure. This project highlights the governor’s dedication to transforming the state and enhancing the lives of its citizens.
Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani, since assuming office 17 months ago, has embarked on a transformative journey through critical infrastructure initiatives, focusing on the construction and rehabilitation of roads. To this end, his administration is constructing 62 roads spanning over 700 kilometers, largely in rural areas, to improve connectivity and drive socio-economic development.
Impact and Strategic Focus
The Abdullahi Yero Asphaltic Road and other infrastructure projects reflect a broader strategy to ensure equitable development across Kaduna State. By prioritizing road construction in rural areas, Governor Sani aims to integrate these communities into the state’s economic and social fabric. This approach ensures that development reaches every corner of the state, fostering a sense of belonging and acknowledging the contributions of rural communities to the state’s economy.
The Kaduna Roads Agency (KADRA) confirmed that many roads are deliberately located in rural areas to boost the rural economy, as part of Governor Uba Sani’s rural revitalization program. The administration recognizes that well-constructed roads are the backbone of economic activity, connecting farmers to markets, schools, and healthcare facilities.
Broader Infrastructure Development
Beyond the Abdullahi Yero Asphaltic Road, Governor Sani’s administration has initiated several other key projects to upgrade Kaduna State’s infrastructure:
- Road Construction: Governor Sani announced the construction of 32 roads in Kaduna State, covering 406 kilometers to facilitate easier movement. Additionally, he has performed the groundbreaking for approximately 50 roads, totaling 639.5km across the three senatorial districts.
- Education: Launching the construction of 62 new Junior Secondary Schools (JSS) and Senior Secondary Schools (SSS) across the state to ensure every child has access to education.
- Economic Development: Commissioning the Kangimi Lithium Processing Plant, an investment worth US$12 million, with the Kaduna state government owning a 30% stake.
- Housing: The Kaduna State Government has started a megacity with a housing project that would help 500,000 of the state’s impoverished and vulnerable residents.
- Skills Development: Constructing three vocational and technology skills cities in each zone of the state to address skill deficits and empower citizens.
Through targeted investment in infrastructure, Governor Uba Sani’s administration is laying the foundation for a more connected and prosperous future for all citizens of Kaduna State.
