A University Don and Agricultural and Resource Economics specialist, Prof Elizabeth Oluwalana has asserted that Ogun State is a fertile ground for various investment opportunities and urged business investors to take advantage of numerous opportunities in the state.
Professor Elizabeth Oluwalana of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta made this known recently at the Business Launch meeting of the Business Network International BNI for business developers which was held at the Green Legacy Hall of Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential library.
Prof. Oluwalana asserted that opportunities abound in the state and encouraged investors to take advantage of the infrastructural architecture that is ground in the State.
“Ogun state has a robust infrastructure system which includes the excellent transport networks system and this can be seen in the newly commissioned cargo airport at Iperu in Remo axis of the state and it also house an agro processing zone.
“There is also the establishment of special economic zones such as the Ogun Guangdong free trade zone which is situated at Igbesa area of the state”. Oluwalana stated.
Oluwalana added that Ogun state can also be reckoned with when it comes to the area of skilled workforce because of its numerous tertiary institutions in the state which produces competent graduates for the labour market.
“Ogun state is also a force to reckon with when it comes to compentent skilled workforce because it houses many tertiary institutions like The Bells University at Ota area of the state, Federal University of Agriculture Abeokuta, Olabisi Onabanjob and Conveant University also at Ota . According to Oluwalana, these institutions wproduce better graduates that will be dissolved into the labour market for you business owners”.
Also the state can boast of rich indigenous textile fabrics also known as adire and this adire can be exported outside the country. and the mass industrialization in the state
“The state can boast of a very rich indigenous textile fabrics also known as adire. Adire can therefore contribute to both local economy and foreign exchange because we can call ogun state the mother of adire place, when we get to Itoku you will know what am saying or is it the adire Kampala market at Asero area of the state” Prof Oluwalana charged.
Speaking further, the University Don opined that the supportive policies of the state government which are business friendly are capable of inceasing the enermous business potentials in the State while emphasising that the role of Ogun State Investment Promotion and Facilitation Agency (OGUNINVEST) is strategic and critical.
According to her, there are various investment opportunities in the state that can be harnessed, Her words : ”By capitalizing on the state’s strenghths , leveraging on its resources, and embracing innovations, businesses can thriveand contribute to the economic growth of Ogun State.
