The Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) has once again demonstrated its commitment to sustainable development, securing a spot among the top 10 Nigerian universities in the recently released 2025 Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Rankings.
The rankings, announced today, June 18, 2025, evaluated 2,526 universities globally from 130 countries and regions, with 36 Nigerian institutions making the final list. FUNAAB achieved a commendable overall global position and secured the 7th spot nationally, a significant achievement considering the rigorous assessment of universities’ contributions to the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
FUNAAB showed exceptional performance across several individual SDGs. The university ranked 2nd in Nigeria for SDG 4 (Quality Education), highlighting its dedication to providing excellent academic programs. In its core mandate, FUNAAB placed 3rd in Nigeria for SDG 2 (Zero Hunger), reinforcing its impactful research and initiatives in food security.
Furthermore, the institution secured the 4th position in SDG 13 (Climate Action) and 6th in SDG 17 (Partnership for the Goals), underscoring its broader commitment to global sustainability efforts.The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Babatunde Kehinde, extended his congratulations to the entire University Community, acknowledging this milestone as a testament to their collective dedication.
He encouraged all stakeholders to redouble their efforts to surpass this achievement in future rankings.This latest recognition solidifies FUNAAB’s growing reputation as a pioneering institution in sustainable education and innovation, not only within Nigeria but also on the international stage.
