Professor Mufutau Olaoye Atayese, an expert in plant water and nutrient relations, mycorrhizal symbiosis and sustainable agrosystems is set to present the 83rd Inaugural Lecture of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) on Wednesday, November 1, 2023.
The 83rd Inaugural Lecture comes up by 2pm at the University campus under the chairmanship of the 7th substantive Vice- Chancellor of the University, Prof. Olusola Babatunde Kehinde.
The Inaugural Lecture which is the 16th from the College of Plant Science and Crop Production is titled “ Securing the Producer: Crop Nutrition and Food Security” promises to be educative, revealing and informative.
Prof Atayese, a Professor of Plant Nutrition in the Department of Plant Physiology and Crop Production has worked at FUNAAB for over 29 years.
He obtained his First Degree in Botany / Plant Biology at the University of Lagos while both his Masters Degree and Ph.D in Plant Physiology were obtained at the University of Ibadan.
Aside from several academic laurels, Prof. Atayese had served in several leadership capacities both within and outside the University. He had served as the Deputy Dean, Student Affairs, Dean, College of Plant Science and Crop Production and as a member of the Governing Council of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta.
The Inaugural Lecture promises to showcase the prowess of a scientist with diverse attributes. Professor Atayese is an amiable personality and a relationships person whose life can normally serve as a veritable template for relationship between plants and nutrient and plant and man. He is a great communicator who can relate the spoken words of man with “unspoken” words of plants and solve the problems of each entity . He is a sports man who has remained fit over the years and can easily drive through the importance of nutrition without going far. He has a business concept which makes quantifying dangers of losses of producers and pains of plants on his fingertips.
Starting from 1:30pm on Wednesday, November 1, 2023, the campus of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta will host great men, opinion moulders and policy makers from all walks of life as the Professor of Plant Nutrition charts a sustainable course for crop nutrition and food security in Nigeria, ValidViewNetwork reports.
