Enveloped in a celebration mood at the 31st Convocation of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) held recently, Miss Olatedun Oluwabusayo Janet emerged as the Best All-round Graduating Student for the academic year 2022/2023.
According to a statement made available by Olasunkanmi Olajide, the Acting Head , Directorate of Public Realations of the prestigious University, ”the ceremony witnessed an outpouring of accolades for Miss Olatedun, who was left speechless during her Valedictory Speech as she expressed her surprise at receiving the prestigious award.
Sharing her astonishment, Miss Olatedun revealed that the news of her achievement came as a shock when friends broke it to her.
She credited the University for instilling in her the values needed to make a positive impact on the society”.
Reflecting on her journey, she recounted being the Best Graduating student during her Ordinary National Diploma (OND), highlighting the challenges she faced with nearly three years of delayed admission to the university.
Despite the obstacles, Miss Olatedun emphasised that her determination and the support she received enabled her to rise above the challenges, encouraging fellow graduates to aspire for greatness.
She underscored the importance of determination in achieving one’s goals and expressed confidence that with perseverance, others could attain their heart desires.
As part of the tradition in honouring the Best Graduating Student, Capital Express Insurance Company presented Miss Olatedun with a cheque of 250,000 naira.
The highpoint came when Dr. Tajudeen Afolabi Adeola, Co-founder of Guarantee Trust Bank (GT Bank), and an Honorary Doctorate holder of FUNAAB surprised everyone by adding a whopping One Million Naira to the cash award.
Miss Olatedun, from the Department of Agricultural Economics and Farm Management (AEFM), College of Agricultural Management and Rural Development (COLAMRUD) achieved an outstanding CGPA of 4.85.
The unexpected generosity from Dr. Adeola added an unforgettable chapter to Miss Olatedun’s academic journey, marking her graduation as a remarkable and rewarding experience.
ValidViewNetwork recalls that a lady, Mrs. Oguntola (Tijani) Oluwatoyin Naheemah, emerged as the best graduating student during the last convocation of the foremost university. Toyin graduated from the Department of Nutrition and Dietetics of the University.
