Dr. Hakeem ‘Bola Adekola, the fourth substantive Registrar of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) will on Thursday bow out in grand style after a meritororious service.

This was contained in a statement by Mr Kolawole Adepoju, the Director, Directorate of Public Relations of the University.

The statement read : ” The Alabata Permanent Site of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) will literarily stand still this week Thursday in honour of the outgoing Registrar, ‘Dr. Hakeem ‘Bola Adekola as members of staff under the aegis of Association of Nigerian University Professional Administrators (ANUPA) are in top mood to send forth the Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOU), Ago – Iwoye utility ‘export’ in grand style.

The out-going Registrar, a native of Ogun Waterside, Ogun State, was born in Lagos on January 12, 1968. He attended Community High School, Ibiade, Ogun State for his secondary education, between 1980 and 1985. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in History; Master of Personnel Psychology and a Doctorate Degree in Applied Psychology (Personnel Psychology option), from the Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago-Iwoye, Ogun State, in 1989, 1997 and 2006, respectively.

He was employed as an Administrative Officer II by the Ogun State University (now Olabisi Onabanjo University) in September 1991. He rose through the ranks to become a Deputy Registrar in October 2007 in the same university. He was later appointed as the Pioneer Registrar of the Fountain University, Osogbo, Osun State in 2007 and served out his tenure on April 30, 2012. He was appointed as the fourth substantive Registrar of FUNAAB in September 2017.

According to Adepoju, the committee saddled with the responsibility of organising the a befitting send forth for the Registrar was working round the clock towards making the ocassion a model for other universities.

“The Mr.Bayo Ogundimu – led Planning Committee has been working frantically round the clock and as such, is leaving no stone unturned to make the valedictory in honour of the Registrar grand and unprecedented in the annals of history of the Registry facet of the University.

Mr.Ogundimu who has brought his professional wizardry as the immediate past Registrar of D.S. Adegbenro ICT Polytechnic, Itori, Ogun State, as well as his embodiment of administrative clout and acumen to bear on the organisation of the Send – Forth is resolute with his team to make the epoch making occasion the talk of the campus for many years to come”.

Checks by the Directorate of Public Relations revealed that the occasion is tilting and inching towards renewing and strengthening the robust rapport and symbiotic relationship between FUNAAB and OOU as many staffers of the latter, based on special invitation, have signified their intention to massively attend the Send – Forth of their ‘Ambassador Plenipotentiary’.

Here in FUNAAB, the excitement of members of staff, especially under the fledging umbrella of ANUPA to add colour to the occasion has hit the roof top, leaving on it trail the cacophony and stacca to of high level preparations to set the campus agog with gong of celebration galore.

The decision to celebrate the outgoing Registrar according to observers of the Registrar ditto the Registry might not be unconnected with the monumental innovations that he brought to bear largely on the University Registry, Adepoju stated.

Dr.Adekola who is reputed and appelated by his teeming admirers on campus as “Mr.Fix It” has caught an enviable niche of providing solutions to knotty issues in the Registry since he assumed office.

Others warmed up to him as a good mixer, an unrepentant welfarist, an astute Administrator and an unassuming jolly fellow, among others.

Meanwhile, the Mr.Bayo Ogundimu- led Planning Committee has reeled out activities marking the Farewell programme in honour of Dr.Adekola.

According to the programme, the Send – Forth will hold on Thursday,September 21, 2023 with the inspection of Guard of Honour mounted for Dr.Adekola by Students’ Paramilitary Club at the basement of Senate Chamber by 10 a m.
