FUNAAB Alumnus Professor Rasaki Kareem Named Deputy Vice Chancellor of Crescent University

Crescent University in Abeokuta has announced the appointment of Professor Rasaki Olufemi Kareem as its new Deputy Vice Chancellor, effective from October 1, 2025. The announcement was made on Thursday, September 25, 2025, by the Registrar, Barrister Zakariyya Ademola Ajibola, during a ceremony at the university’s Senate Chamber on behalf of the Vice Chancellor.

Professor Kareem, a distinguished alumnus of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), is a renowned scholar in Resource and Development Economics. He commenced his journey at Crescent University in 2009 as Lecturer II and steadily advanced to attain full professorship in 2022.

Over the years, Prof. Kareem has demonstrated exemplary leadership and academic excellence, holding numerous critical administrative roles including Head of the Department of Economics, Dean of Students’ Affairs, Acting Dean of the College of Arts, Social and Management Sciences, and Dean of the School of Postgraduate Studies.

In addition to these roles, he has chaired many strategic university committees such as the Results Vetting Committee, Admissions Committee, and the Taskforce on Staff and Discipline. His efforts have significantly contributed to sustaining the institution’s academic standards, student discipline, and successful accreditation exercises by the National Universities Commission (NUC).

Prof. Kareem is also a prolific academic mentor, having supervised over 70 undergraduate projects and more than 20 postgraduate theses. He boasts an extensive publication record, with upwards of 70 articles published in reputable local and international journals. His scholarly works on entrepreneurship, economic analysis, and fiscal policies have garnered over 900 citations on Google Scholar, underscoring his impact in the field.
