Tragedy struck in the Abedi Sabon Gari area of Fagge Local Government, Kano State, on Sunday evening as a three-storey uncompleted building collapsed, killing four people and injuring seven others.

The National Emergency Management Agency confirmed the incident on Monday, following hours of search and rescue operations coordinated by its Kano Territorial Office.
Coordinator of the agency, Dr. Nuraddeen Abdullahi, told the News Agency of Nigeria that the building came down at about 6:49 p.m. after a prolonged and heavy downpour.
“Upon receiving the distress alert, we immediately mobilised our Search and Rescue (SAR) response team to the scene in collaboration with other relevant stakeholders,” he said.
According to Abdullahi, eyewitnesses reported that several people were inside the structure when it gave way, many of whom were trapped under the debris.
“As of 1:56 a.m. on Monday, two persons had been confirmed dead, while six others were rescued with injuries,” he said.
However, updated figures from the agency later confirmed that four lives were lost in the incident, with seven others sustaining varying degrees of injury.
Emergency operations have since been concluded at the scene, while authorities are expected to carry out a structural assessment to determine the cause of the collapse and safeguard nearby buildings.
The incident has renewed public concern over the safety of uncompleted structures, especially in flood-prone areas during the rainy season.
