Gbenga Daniel, the All-Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for Ogun East, has been declared the winner of Saturday’s senate election held in Ogun State by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Former Ogun State governor, Daniel won the election for the senate seat by garnering 115,147 votes, surpassing other contenders.
The Returning Officer, Prof. Christopher Onwuka, made the official results announcement at the Ogun East Senatorial Collation Center in Itoro Hall, Ijebu-Ode.
Daniel won in nine local government areas (LGAs) in the senatorial district, including Ijebu North, Odogbolu, Remo North, Sagamu, Ijebu North-East, Ijebu Ode, Ijebu East, Ikenne, and Ogun Waterside.
The People’s Democratic Party (PDP), with 58,708 votes, finished second in the senatorial race, while the Labour Party came in third with 13,061 votes, according to the results breakdown.
The Social Democratic Party (SDP) received 1,151 votes, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) 1,716 votes, and the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) 857 votes.
The senatorial race was declared won by Daniel after he met all legal conditions and received the most votes.
