In a major milestone for the continued growth and institutional development of ValidViewNetwork Media, veteran journalist, media administrator, and former President of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Mr. Olanrewaju S. Ogundipe, has formally accepted his appointment as Chairman of the Advisory Board of ValidViewNetwork Media.

ValidViewNetwork reports that the appointment was conveyed through a letter signed by the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of ValidViewNetwork Media, Kayode Ogunjobi FHEA, FFAN, who described the veteran journalist as a distinguished professional whose decades of service have significantly shaped journalism, democratic engagement, labour advocacy, and media administration in Nigeria and across Africa.

In the appointment letter, the management of ValidViewNetwork Media highlighted the basis for the appointment, stating that it was made “in recognition of your outstanding contributions to journalism, democratic engagement, media administration, labour advocacy, and national development over the course of more than five decades of meritorious service to Nigeria, Africa, and the global media community.”

The organisation further praised Mr. Ogundipe’s remarkable professional journey, noting that “your remarkable journey within the journalism profession, rising from reporter to respected editor, media executive, union leader, and continental figure in journalism advocacy, remains a source of inspiration to countless professionals across generations.”

Providing further insight into the rationale behind the appointment, the letter acknowledged his distinguished leadership record, stating that “your distinguished service as President of the Nigeria Union of Journalists and the African Union of Journalists clearly reflects your exceptional leadership capacity, integrity, courage, and commitment to the advancement of ethical journalism and responsible public communication.”

The management also paid tribute to his personal qualities, emphasizing that beyond professional accomplishments, “we are particularly humbled by your uncommon humility, accessibility, simplicity, and unwavering commitment to supporting emerging institutions and younger generations within the media profession.”

According to the letter, these qualities made his acceptance particularly significant because “it is this rare combination of experience, wisdom, and humility that has made it possible for you to graciously accept to contribute towards the growth and development of ValidViewNetwork Media.”

The organisation described the appointment as a privilege, noting that “it is a great honour and privilege for our organisation to have a veteran of your standing provide astute leadership, strategic guidance, and professional mentorship towards promoting excellence, integrity, objectivity, and professionalism in the dissemination of information.”

Looking to the future, the management expressed confidence in his ability to steer the organisation strategically, declaring that “we are fully confident that under your leadership and guidance, ValidViewNetwork Media will leap to greater heights and evolve into one of the most respected and globally recognised media platforms dedicated to truth, professionalism, development-oriented journalism, and responsible public discourse.”

As outlined in the appointment letter, Mr. Ogundipe’s responsibilities as Chairman of the Advisory Board will include providing strategic counsel on editorial direction, institutional development, media ethics, professional standards, public affairs engagement, and organisational growth initiatives.

ValidViewNetwork reports that Mr Ogundipe has formally accepted the appointment and pledged his unalloyed commitment to advancing the organisation’s vision and mission.

In his response, the veteran journalist expressed gratitude for the confidence reposed in him, stating, “I wish to express my sincere appreciation for the confidence reposed in me through my appointment as Chairman of the Advisory Board of ValidViewNetwork Media.”

He also acknowledged the commendations contained in the appointment letter, saying, “I am deeply honoured by the generous words contained in your letter and humbled by the recognition of my modest contributions to journalism, professional advocacy, and public service over the years.”

Accepting the role, Mr. Ogundipe declared his readiness to contribute meaningfully to the organisation’s future, stating, “I gladly accept the appointment and pledge to support the vision of ValidViewNetwork Media in promoting professionalism, ethical journalism, responsible public discourse, and institutional excellence.”

He further affirmed his commitment to working collaboratively with stakeholders, adding, “I look forward to working with the management, advisory board members, and all stakeholders towards strengthening the organisation’s capacity to contribute meaningfully to the media landscape and national development.”

Expressing appreciation for the honour bestowed upon him, the newly appointed chairman concluded, “I thank you once again for this honour and wish the organisation continued growth and success in its noble mission.”

The acceptance of the appointment by one of Nigeria’s most respected journalism veterans has been widely welcomed within media circles, with observers describing it as a significant boost to the credibility and strategic direction of ValidViewNetwork Media.
