JACKSONVILLE, FL – A Florida couple, identified as Tito and Amanda Watts, were taken into custody by local authorities earlier this week on suspicion of fraud. The pair allegedly sold “golden tickets to heaven” to numerous individuals for $99.99 each.
According to police reports, the Wattses claimed the tickets were crafted from solid gold and guaranteed the buyer a reserved place in the afterlife upon presentation at the “pearly gates.”
In a statement provided to law enforcement, Tito Watts reportedly made several unusual claims, including that the tickets were given to him by Jesus Christ behind a fast-food restaurant and that he intended to use the proceeds to travel to outer space with his wife on an alien spacecraft. He also implicated Jesus in the alleged scheme and offered to cooperate with authorities by wearing a recording device.
Amanda Watts reportedly told police that she was merely present and did not participate in the sale of the tickets, stating their intention was “to leave earth and go to space and do drugs.”
Authorities confirmed the confiscation of over $10,000 in cash, along with drug paraphernalia and a baby alligator, at the time of the arrest.
It is important to note that these are allegations, and the couple is entitled to due process under the law. The investigation is ongoing, and further details may emerge as the case proceeds.
This incident serves as a reminder to the public to exercise caution when purchasing goods or services from unfamiliar individuals and to be wary of claims that seem too good to be true.
