Michael Sherman, a Texas firefighter, and his wife, Joacquia, recently discovered during a family-filled gender reveal that they are expecting a baby girl.
The moment marked the end of a 108-year streak of boys in the family.
“I just feel honored,” Michael said. “We are the ones bringing the baby girl into the world. Finally, after over 100 years. It’s amazing.”
The last girl born into the Sherman family was Michael’s great-great-aunt, Orah Belle Sherman, in 1917. Remembered as a trailblazer in Atlanta during the civil rights era, she made a lasting impact on her community.
Michael’s grandmother, Lydia Robertson, expressed her joy at the news. “I love her. No matter what path she chooses, we will be with her. She’s going to always have support here.”
The couple is expecting their daughter in March and plan to check if their rare family milestone qualifies for a Guinness World Record.
