The Federal Government is poised to unveil the Renewed Hope Labour Employment and Empowerment Programme (LEEP), a transformative initiative under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR. Spearheaded by the Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment, LEEP aims to create 2.5 million jobs annually, both directly and indirectly, while reshaping Nigeria’s labour landscape.
The Honourable Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Barrister Nkeiruka Onyejeocha, described LEEP as “a quantum leap in employment creation,” emphasizing its focus on building world-class capabilities rather than merely generating jobs.
LEEP’s Strategic Framework
The programme is built on five key pillars:
- Digital Nomads Initiative: Position Nigerian talent for global remote work opportunities.
- LEEP Digital Academy: Provide world-class digital skills training.
- Enhanced NELEX Platform: Facilitate job matching through AI-powered technology.
- Vocational & Entrepreneurship Programme: Empower artisans and SME creators.
- National Job Fairs Circuit: Connect employers with skilled candidates nationwide.
- Centres for Learning Excellence: Establish cutting-edge skills development hubs.
Vision for Economic Empowerment
Barrister Onyejeocha highlighted that LEEP aligns with the Renewed Hope Agenda, targeting zero hunger, zero poverty, economic growth, and decent jobs. The initiative also addresses youth unemployment by equipping beneficiaries with digital and vocational skills to thrive in the global economy.
As dignitaries gather for the launch ceremony, this landmark event marks a pivotal step in Nigeria’s journey toward economic empowerment and global workforce competitiveness.
