The Federal Ministry of Finance, Abuja, has issued a strong denial against recent online claims suggesting that contracts worth N13 billion were awarded between February and June 2024 without following due process. The Ministry, led by Honourable Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Mr. Wale Edun, and Permanent Secretary Mrs. Lydia Shehu Jafiya, described the allegations as unfounded and malicious.
In a press statement released on May 5, 2025, the Ministry emphasized that all contracts awarded during the stated period, including those related to the Presidential Initiatives on Compressed Natural Gas (Pi CNG), complied fully with the Public Procurement Act and other relevant laws and regulations. The statement categorically rejected any insinuations of corruption or irregularities as baseless and without merit.
The Ministry reaffirmed its commitment to transparency and accountability in managing the nation’s economy, highlighting ongoing efforts aligned with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration. It also called on the media to verify information thoroughly before publication to avoid spreading falsehoods that could tarnish reputations and disrupt economic initiatives.
The Ministry warned that it will not hesitate to pursue legal action against individuals or organizations responsible for spreading damaging and false reports. It urged the public to disregard the recent publication and assured Nigerians of its dedication to implementing economic reforms aimed at improving the country’s welfare.
