The Federal Capital Territory Police Command announced a significant breakthrough by arresting three suspects linked to the “one-chance” robbery and murder of Barrister Chigbo Princess Nwamaka Mediatrix, a prominent Abuja-based lawyer and former Treasurer of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Abuja Branch. The incident occurred on January 5, 2026, around 5:50 p.m., when the victim boarded a black Volkswagen Golf 3 along Kubwa Expressway, unaware of the criminals inside.
Arrest Details
Operatives from the Command’s Scorpion Squad, under ACP Victor Ogbeide Godfrey, tracked the victim’s phone using digital intelligence across Dei-Dei, Dakwa, and Dan-Tata in Kubwa, leading to arrests between January 5 and 10. The suspects include biological brothers Saifullahi Yusuf (22) and Ishau Yusuf (24), both from Kaduna State and residing in Dan-Tata, Dei-Dei, plus Minka’ilu Jibril (aka Dan-Hajia), also from Kaduna. A fourth suspect, Musa, remains at large.
Crime Revelation
Suspects confessed to operating a long-standing “one-chance” syndicate active during festive periods, robbing passengers in disguised vehicles. They assaulted Chigbo after she refused ransom demands—reportedly up to N3 million by her family—and pushed her from the moving car, causing her death; they stole and sold her Android phone for N120,000 in Dei-Dei, sharing proceeds unevenly.
Recovered Items
Police seized five scissors, two dagger knives, two knives, one restraining chain, and one plier from the suspects, linked to their crimes.
Ongoing Probe and Advice
Commissioner CP Miller Dantawaye ordered the manhunt for Musa and syndicate links; investigations continue.
