Nigerian businessman, Oladapo Ogundipe, has raised objections to the conclusions drawn from the coroner’s inquest concerning the tragic death of his daughter, Alanis, who took her own life on May 29, 2023, in the United Kingdom.
Alanis, a 26-year-old accountant, purportedly ended her life following alleged blackmail from her boyfriend, Ryan Leggetts, who reportedly breached her privacy by accessing her personal documents and threatening exposure.
According to reports, Alanis died by jumping in front of a moving train at a station in Manchester, UK.
Expressing dissatisfaction with the inquest’s proceedings, Oladapo highlighted concerns over the handling of evidence and his involvement in the process.
He claimed that certain evidence was initially withheld and that he was restricted from presenting crucial information against Leggetts during the hearing.
Despite objections from Alanis’ mother’s legal representative, Oladapo was eventually allowed to present his evidence during the inquest held on May 9, 2024, in Bolton, Manchester.

He further criticized the handling of questioning, asserting his right as an interested party to fully participate in the inquiry and question witnesses, particularly Leggetts.
Disputing the findings of the coroner’s report, which attributed Alanis’ suicide to financial woes and a strained relationship, Oladapo contested the assertion, citing his daughter’s access to funds and lack of financial difficulty.
He questioned why Alanis would face financial desperation when she was due to receive a substantial sum from him and had a stable financial record.
Additionally, he challenged the characterization of Leggetts as a supportive partner, given the circumstances of alleged blackmail and financial demands preceding Alanis’ death.
Oladapo’s objections underscore a broader contention with the handling of the inquest and the conclusions drawn regarding the tragic events leading to his daughter’s death.
