The family of a 22-year-old former student of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Abeokuta, Kabirat Oyindamola Sobola, who was allegedly stabbed to death in her room in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital have cried out for justice.
The deceased, a National Diploma holder, was reportedly murdered in her room in Ogbe area of Abeokuta on Friday, 3rd February, 2023, with knife beside her, having a deep cut on her neck and below her left breast.
Her boyfriend, Kabiru Akeem who was said to have reported her disappearance at the Ibara police station on the same day she went missing has been arrested and charged to court as the prime suspect.
But speaking with ValidView Network on Tuesday, the father of the deceased, Taiwo Sobola appealed on the Nigeria Police Force to do more to unravel the killer of his daughter.
“Unknown to us, Kabiru Akeem, the suspect reported the case of missing person less than 24 hours after the murder of our daughter. We are reliably informed that his countenance gave him away such that the DPO whom he met at the station suspected that something was fishy.”
“Yes I want the govt and the police to find the killer of my daughter, justice must prevail, the only thing I want is justice”
He stated that some essential details and exhibit that could help prove their case in court were omitted in the case file sent to the court.
“Her Iphone was missing; her pictures were sent to one Alfa and herbalist by the accused boyfriend,
The younger sister claimed the suspect has a spare key to her sister’s room which was discovered at her door post when police visited her apartment on Saturday, 4th February 2023.
The police have neglected these parts without mentioning them in their report, the father said.
The apparently broken father demanded to know the Alfa and herbalist that the suspect, Kabiru Akeem sent the pictures of his murdered daughter to.
“The Police is trying but I do not want them to lose vital aspects of this case. This is a murder case, the instruments of crime were found beside her and her phone is missing. Who took the phone”
“Nigerians should please help me. Who is the Alfa and herbalist the boy sent the pictures of my murdered daughter to and for what purpose.
The twin brother of the deceased’s father, Kehinde Sobola, stated that the accused told the police that he and the deceased ended their relationship in August 2022 after he got another lady pregnant.
He expressed dissatisfaction in how the case is being handled by the police.
“I expect them (police) to get her call history from MTN so that they can know who she spoke to and chatted with.”
“We expected the police to work more on some information that were given in the course of their investigation”.
The case has since gone to the magistrate court in isabo, Abeokuta, where an order to detain the accused boyfriend for 60 days at the Nigeria Correctional Service at Oba Prison, while awaiting advice from the Directorate for Public Prosecution (DPP) for legal advice.
