Ekiti Mourns APC Chieftain, Prince Gabriel Omodara

​ADO EKITI – The political landscape of Ekiti State is in mourning following the passing of Prince Gabriel Omodara, a venerable All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain and respected community leader, who died on Sunday at the age of 93.

​Affectionately known as “Baba QC” or “Worowo,” Prince Omodara was a cornerstone of grassroots politics in the state. His career included a significant tenure as the Chairman of the defunct Ekiti Central Local Government, an area that formerly encompassed Ado and Ifelodun/Ifaki Local Government areas.

Governor Biodun Oyebanji led the tributes, honoring the late nonagenarian for his decades of selfless contribution to the state’s development. In a statement released through his Special Adviser on Media, Yinka Oyebode, the Governor described the deceased as a man of integrity and wisdom who played a pivotal role in building the APC’s political structure in Ekiti.

​”Pa Omodara lived a fulfilled life, served selflessly, and left behind a legacy of honor, integrity, and enduring impact,” Governor Oyebanji stated. He further noted that in his later years, the elder statesman transitioned into a mentor, dedicated to community service and guiding the younger generation of leaders.

​Council of Elders Reflects on His Life

The Ekiti Council of Elders also expressed profound sorrow over the loss of one of their most stable and influential members. Elder Niyi Ajibulu, General Secretary of the council, highlighted Omodara’s unique ability to bridge tradition and faith.

​”Prince Omodara was a notable stabilizing force in the Council,” Ajibulu remarked. “He was known for his efforts in blending Christian religion with Yoruba tradition in his prayers and activities, and he served as the face of our ‘Aging Grace’ workshop”.

​Beyond his party affiliations, Omodara was widely recognized as a grassroots mobilizer whose influence spanned decades of political and social engagement in Nigeria. As of Sunday evening, friends, political associates, and community leaders continued to pay their respects to a man described by many as a repository of knowledge and a pillar of the Ado-Ekiti community.
