The Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Mr. Ola Olukoyede, has disclosed the commission’s intention to investigate more than 3,000 financial crime cases.
These cases are part of the over 5,000 petitions received by the agency from various groups and individuals across Nigeria.
Olukoyede made this announcement during the 20th-anniversary lecture of the Human and Environmental Development Agenda Resources Centre, which took place in Lagos on Saturday.
As the guest lecturer at the event, he revealed that the EFCC has recovered over N60 billion and $10 million in less than four months since he assumed office.
While addressing the pervasive nature of corruption in Nigeria, Olukoyede emphasized the need for collective responsibility from every Nigerian to combat corruption and move the country forward.

Despite these challenges, he emphasized the agency’s dedication to investigating and presenting facts before the court for judgment.
The Chairman of HEDA, Mr. Olanrewaju Suraju, acknowledged the challenging nature of the anti-corruption fight and urged all Nigerians to contribute from their respective spheres to combat corruption effectively.
He emphasized the importance of an effective policing system with integrity and called for a zero-tolerance approach to all forms of arbitrariness.
Earlier in the year, the EFCC had emphasized the significance of adherence to professionalism and commitment to the rule of law by government officials in ensuring economic growth.
Increased professionalism, according to Olukoyede, entails zero tolerance for corruption in all its forms.
