Shape Nigeria’s Future with Integrity, Olukoyede Charges Students

​ABUJA – As part of its strategic institutional framework to combat economic and financial crimes through early prevention, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has called on Nigerian youths to actively cultivate the values of discipline, honesty, and hard work as indispensable foundations for future national leadership.

​The Executive Chairman of the Commission, Mr. Ola Olukoyede, gave the charge in Abuja during a specialized anti-corruption sensitization lecture organized for pupils of the Loyola Jesuit Basic School, Karu, who were at the EFCC Academy on an educational excursion.

​Building a Foundation of Honor

​Delivering the charge on behalf of the Executive Chairman, the Head of the Media Academy Unit, Assistant Commander of the EFCC (ACE 1) Chidimma Amanambu, stressed that the trajectory of Nigeria’s socio-economic development relies heavily on the moral fortitude of the upcoming generation.

​Olukoyede admonished the students to consciously distance themselves from peer pressure, academic dishonesty, and cybercrimes, urging them instead to focus on original, value-driven achievements.

​”You are the future leaders of this country,” Olukoyede stated. “To lead effectively, you must be disciplined, truthful, original, and exceptionally hardworking. Embracing these core values today will transform you into the responsible leaders that Nigeria needs and will be immensely proud of tomorrow.”

​Understanding the Cost of Economic Crime

​The sensitization program featured an extensive interactive module designed to bridge the gap between regulatory law enforcement and youth perception. Deputy Superintendent of the EFCC (DSE) Angel O. Israel delivered a key presentation titled, “Consequences of Crime and the Benefits of Good Morals.”

The session provided the visiting students with a comprehensive breakdown of the anti-graft agency’s operations:

• ​Institutional History & Mandate: An overview of how the EFCC enforces economic and financial crime laws.
• ​Operational Scope: Real-world insight into the types of infractions investigated by the Commission, ranging from advance fee fraud (419) to institutional graft.
• ​Behavioral Accountability: Explanations of the severe societal and personal legal consequences of engaging in criminal activity.
• ​Career Pathing: Exposure to professional opportunities within forensics, legal prosecution, and cyber intelligence inside the agency.

​Responding on behalf of the school’s management and student delegation, Ramat Joshua expressed profound appreciation to the EFCC leadership for granting them access to the Academy’s facility and providing a transformative learning experience.

​Joshua noted that the exposure had given the students a clearer understanding of the devastating impacts of corruption and promised that the delegation would act as ambassadors of integrity within their immediate school communities.

​The EFCC’s catch-them-young initiative continues to serve as a pivotal pillar in the agency’s broader strategy to neutralize financial crime by fostering ethical re-engineering among Nigerian school children nationwide.
