In a strategic move to sanitize the criminal justice ecosystem, the Benin Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Benin Branch, have resolved to deepen their partnership against economic and financial crimes in Edo State.
This agreement was reached during a courtesy call by the newly elected executives of the NBA Benin Branch to the Commission’s zonal headquarters.
Speaking during the visit, the newly elected NBA Chairman, Omorodion Omoigui, stated that the tour was designed to introduce the incoming leadership to the anti-graft agency’s hierarchy and consolidate existing professional ties. He lauded the EFCC as a pillar of the criminal justice system, highlighting the heavy caseload the commission successfully brings before the courts.
“We are here to familiarize ourselves with the leadership of the Commission and strengthen the existing relationship between the NBA and the EFCC in tackling graft in the state,” Omoigui remarked.

In his response, the Acting Zonal Director and Deputy Commander of the EFCC, Sa’ad Hanafi Sa’ad, congratulated the new executives on their electoral success. He emphasized that the anti-graft agency acknowledges the vital role legal practitioners play in executing its statutory mandate.
Sa’ad noted that the commission’s impressive prosecution track record stems from its unwavering commitment to integrity, professionalism, courage, and multi-sectoral collaboration. Both institutions reaffirmed that a unified front between the Bar and the anti-corruption agency is critical to driving meaningful judicial reforms and eradicating financial malfeasance across Edo State.
