ABUJA — The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has taken Halimat Adenike Tejuosho, the suspended South-West zonal coordinator of the women’s wing of the City Boy Movement, into custody.
EFCC spokesperson Dele Oyewale confirmed that Tejuosho was arrested on September 8 following an extensive manhunt. The anti-graft agency had earlier declared the 41-year-old businesswoman wanted in April in connection with an ongoing probe into an alleged multi-million naira appointment and contract scam.
Investigators allege that Tejuosho, who serves as the founder of Haleems Integrated Services Limited, ran an elaborate scheme exploiting fake appointment letters, forged federal documents, and false claims of high-level political influence to swindle unsuspecting victims. Complainants previously accused her of collecting massive sums under the guise of securing lucrative government contracts and federal appointments.
The high-profile arrest also revives scrutiny over past petitions linking her to multi-million naira diversion schemes, including a disputed housing project partnership that led investigators to uncover acquisitions of luxury vehicles.
In response to the scandal, the City Boy Movement—a prominent youth-driven political advocacy group championing President Bola Tinubu’s administration—promptly announced her suspension upon the release of the April wanted notice. Leadership stated that the administrative measure was enacted to safeguard the organization’s integrity, image, and ethical standards, ensuring the anti-corruption agency could proceed unhindered.
The EFCC has indicated that further investigations are ongoing.
