
Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Kaduna Zonal Directorate, have apprehended 19 suspected internet fraudsters in Lapai Local Government Area of Niger State. The group comprises 18 males and one female, arrested on Friday, September 19, 2025, following credible intelligence linking them to fraudulent online activities.

Authorities recovered several items linked to their alleged crimes, including one Honda Civic car, 33 mobile phones, five laptops, a peak power generating set, three Bluetooth speakers, a white calabash, and other fetish objects reportedly used for ritual purposes in their operations.

The suspects are currently under investigation and will face prosecution as soon as the probe is complete. This latest arrest is part of ongoing efforts by the EFCC Kaduna Zonal Directorate to clamp down on cybercrime networks operating within Niger State.

This operation follows several previous EFCC arrests of internet fraudsters in the region this year, including significant busts in Minna, Bida, and other Niger State localities where hundreds of suspects have been detained with phones, vehicles, laptops, and fetish items recovered. These actions reflect the Commission’s continuous commitment to tackling the pervasive menace of internet fraud across the state and the nation at large
