Education District II has commenced the distribution of sanitary towels to female students across secondary schools in the district. The sanitary pads were donated by the First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, as part of her initiative to commemorate the International Day of the Girl Child. The gesture aims to promote menstrual hygiene management and support the well-being of schoolgirls across the federation.

Additionally, the District distributed Learning Tablets provided by the Lagos State Government through the Lagos State Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM). The devices were allocated to all six education districts to enhance teaching and learning through the integration of technology in classrooms.

Speaking during the dual distribution exercise, the Tutor-General/Permanent Secretary, Education District II, Mr. Omotayo Layemo Sanni, commended both the Federal and State Governments for their continued commitment to the growth and development of education in Nigeria.
He emphasised that the learning tablets should be used judiciously to enhance students’ academic performance and not as private property of any teacher.

Mr. Sanni also expressed profound appreciation to the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, for her thoughtful donation of sanitary pads, describing it as a compassionate initiative that addresses an important aspect of girls’ education and personal development.
In his words, “We sincerely appreciate our dear First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, for her motherly concern and kindness towards the girl child. Her gesture not only promotes hygiene and confidence among our students but also reinforces the importance of supporting girls to remain focused and comfortable in school,” he said.

The items were officially handed over to the ANCOPPS Chairmen of the three zones, Ikorodu, Kosofe, and Shomolu, for onward distribution to schools in their respective areas.

On behalf of Principals across the District, Mrs. Buhari Vinuyon, Principal of Eva Adelaja Girls Junior Secondary School, expressed gratitude to the Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, the First Lady, and other stakeholders for their generosity and continuous contributions to the development of education in the state.
