Former Disney star Dylan Sprouse has sent shockwaves through Hollywood after making a jaw-dropping and unorthodox claim about his ancestry: he and his twin brother, Cole Sprouse, are “children of incest”.
The Suite Life of Zack & Cody alum dropped the explosive family secret during an appearance on the Wildmen podcast, explaining that genealogical deep-dives uncovered a tangled web of shared bloodlines between his mother’s and father’s families.
According to Dylan, the bizarre discovery came to light after he began investigating the staggering prevalence of twins on both sides of his family. While his maternal line famously boasted seven sets of twins across four generations, suspicions arose when he realized identical twins also appeared on his father’s side.
”The reason we have a lot of twins is because it’s the same family!” Dylan joked on the podcast.
Genealogical tracing reportedly revealed that members of their maternal and paternal families had previously intermarried in California during the late 1800s before eventually branching apart—only for his parents to unknowingly bring the bloodlines back together generations later.
True to their sibling dynamic, Dylan revealed he immediately tried to share the bizarre revelation with his twin, frantically calling Cole and firing over photographic evidence. Cole, however, was in no mood for a history lesson.
”He goes, ‘Not looking at that,’ closed it, hung up on me,” Dylan laughed.
Cole later broke his silence on social media regarding the viral headlines, posting to his Instagram Story: “No media training on earth can prep you to read this clickbait headline at 10am.”
While Dylan leaned heavily into sensational phrasing for comedic effect, genealogical experts note that distant historical intermarriages do not constitute literal or modern incest, but rather highlight how deeply intertwined regional family trees can be over the centuries.
