MAKURDI – The Christian community in Benue State and the family of Pastor Abraham Francis Aduh Ojo have been plunged into deep mourning following his tragic demise during a close encounter with armed bandits.
According to reports confirmed by his nephew, Abuh Richard Enemona, the cleric was traveling from Makurdi on Thursday after participating in a crusade. During the journey, his vehicle reportedly ran into an active “bandit operation” on the highway. In a desperate bid to maneuver away from the attackers and escape potential abduction or gunfire, Pastor Ojo’s vehicle was involved in a high-speed accident. He was said to have died instantly at the scene.
A Community in Tears
The news of his death sparked an outpouring of grief on social media. His nephew described the late pastor as a faithful servant who was dedicated to his calling at Dunamis International Gospel Centre until his final moments.
”Since morning, my family and the entire community have been thrown into heavy tears,” Enemona wrote in a heartfelt tribute. “Rest well, Uncle Pastor Abraham Francis Aduh Ojo.”
Rising Insecurity on Highways
This tragic event underscores the lingering security challenges on major Nigerian highways, where travelers frequently face the double threat of violent attacks and the resulting road hazards. While the Dunamis church headquarters is yet to release an official statement, members of the congregation have taken to various platforms to commiserate with the bereaved family, describing the late Ojo as a “soldier of Christ” who fell in the line of duty.
