Davido Shuts Down 19,000-Capacity Venue in Maryland on 5IVE Alive Tour

Nigerian-American Afrobeats star, David Adedeji Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, made a major mark on August 5, 2025, when he headlined a show at the Merriweather Post Pavilion in Maryland, USA, a venue with a capacity of 19,319, as part of his ongoing 5IVE Alive Tour.

The singer delivered a powerful two-hour set featuring hit songs like Fall, If, and Risky, alongside newer tracks that captivated the enthusiastic crowd. It was Davido’s first appearance at the iconic U.S. venue, and the performance drew widespread attention from fans across social media.

“The crowd singing Davido’s verse on With You word for word at the Merriweather Post Pavilion #5IVEAliveTour in Maryland,” one fan shared via X, formerly known as Twitter, reflecting the high energy of the night.

Social media was flooded with reactions celebrating the milestone.
One user, @Successful1o1, tweeted, “Davido did that. First African artist to grace and sell out Merriweather Post Pavilion. (20k capacity) A night to remember. #5IVEAliveTour”

Although that claim hasn’t been officially verified, the moment was widely viewed as another win for Afrobeats on the international stage and a major feat for Davido, who has surpassed 9 billion streams globally.

Still, some reactions questioned the scale of the crowd regardless of his streaming success. One comment from @Beckkyyy55 read:

Despite mixed reactions, many fans celebrated the night. On Facebook, Val Pedro posted,
“The man after the people’s heart. We love you forever. Be lawyer to you our boss.”
