Dangote Industries Limited (DIL) has once again issued a stern warning to truck operators against the unauthorized use of its corporate logo, citing serious damage to the conglomerate’s reputation caused by such acts. Despite repeated advisories, a number of independent truckers with no official affiliation to Dangote continue to brand their vehicles with the company’s logo, often for undisclosed personal benefits.

In an official statement released on Thursday, Dangote expressed growing concern over these unauthorised acts, which have not only embarrassed the brand but have also led to wrongful associations with accidents and incidents involving these trucks. The company stressed that some vehicles bearing the Dangote logo have been implicated in crashes that were erroneously attributed to Dangote, exacerbating public confusion.

Dangote operates one of the continent’s largest commercial fleets, with over 12,000 trucks across Nigeria, including more than 3,000 managed by third-party contractors. The company collaborates closely with regulatory bodies such as the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) to uphold the highest operational standards across its fleet. Dangote engages in ongoing internal audits, training, and compliance efforts to maintain road safety, operational integrity, and customer trust.

The renewed warning follows recent tragic incidents in Enugu State where trucks falsely displaying the Dangote logo were involved in fatal crashes. Investigations clarified that these trucks were not part of Dangote’s fleet but operated by third-party companies, such as Visco Investment Global Limited. Dangote has condemned the spread of misinformation linking these tragedies to its brand and urged both the media and the public to verify facts before circulating reports, warning against exploitation of such incidents for malicious or financial gain.

To combat the unauthorized use of its logo and protect its brand identity, Dangote is intensifying monitoring efforts in partnership with law enforcement agencies and relevant security bodies. The company has pledged to pursue legal action against offenders and implement stricter scrutiny to prevent unauthorized branding on vehicles not affiliated with the Dangote Group.

This firm stance underscores Dangote’s commitment to safety, corporate responsibility, and upholding the integrity of its iconic brand amidst calls for improved regulation of heavy-duty commercial vehicles in Nigeria.
