The Cross River State Government has paid five months’ salary arrears owed to workers of the Obudu Ranch Resort, weeks after employees staged a peaceful protest over unpaid wages.

Governor Approves Immediate Payment

ValidViewNetwork reports that the payment was confirmed in a statement by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Obudu Ranch Resort, Sunday Michael.

ValidViewNetwork reports that workers began receiving payment alerts on Wednesday after Governor Bassey Otu approved the immediate release of funds.

“The payment, which also includes outstanding allowances, was made on the express directive of the Governor of Cross River State, Sen. Bassey Otu, for the immediate clearance of all salary arrears owed to workers of the resort,” Michael said.

Michael added that the governor directed the resort’s management to ensure prompt salary payments to prevent future backlogs. He said the payment aligns with the administration’s “People First” agenda and would boost staff morale and service delivery.

One of the workers, Unimashi Adah, thanked the governor for approving the payment, describing it as a welcome relief after months without salaries.
