The Coroner’s inquest into the death of the late Nigerian singer, Ilerioluwa Aloba popularly known as Mohbad began sitting on Friday at the Magistrate court in Ikorodu, Lagos.
Newsmen were however barred from gaining access into the courtroom and no reason was given for this development.
The coroner, Magistrate Taofikat Adedayo Shotobi, told parties in the inquest that the day’s proceedings was to discuss the modalities for hearing of evidence.
The coroner fixed the 13th day of October, for witnesses to appear.
Funmi Falana, who represented Mohbad’s family alongside other lawyers at the inquest told journalist after the proceedings that the legal team would bring witnesses to the inquest to ensure that the cause of justice is served.
Speaking further, Falana said, “What we did today was to decide how and when the procedures would help get justice. The date has been fixed and will be bringing our witnesses.
The lawyer added that people should be hopeful as they were determined to get justice for the late Mohbad.
“We are representing the interest of justice, we should allow peace to reign but justice must be served. We are going to get to the cause of the death,” she added.
There have been lot of controversy and uproar since the sudden death of the singer on September 12 at the age of 27.
Protests demanding for justice for the ikorodu born singer have also been held in different states across the country.
