As Osun State counts down to the highly anticipated August 15 governorship election, religious leaders have intensified calls for electorates to prioritize competence and integrity over financial inducements.
Speaking at the weekend, the Planter of Christ Apostolic Church Adamimogo, Prophet Sam Olu-Alo, urged voters to reject monetary enticements and ballot trading. He warned that politicians who buy votes ultimately prioritize looting public treasuries to recover their expenses once in office.
The upcoming election features a fiercely contested race, headlined by incumbent Governor Ademola Adeleke of the Accord Party seeking re-election, alongside the All Progressives Congress candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, and other contenders. Electorates have similarly been charged to eschew violence, protect their ballots, and vote according to their conscience to guarantee sustainable development across the state.
