Chrisland University Raises the Bar on Postgraduate Education With Ex-UI VC, Olayinka on Podium

As part of efforts to stimulate conversations on improving postgraduate education in Nigeria, Chrisland University, Abeokuta, Ogun State, will on Thursday, July 2, 2026, hold its maiden Postgraduate School Discourse with leading academics expected to examine strategies for strengthening advanced studies in the nation’s universities.

The discourse, themed “Consolidating Postgraduate Education in Nigerian Universities,” will take place at the University’s Auditorium beginning at 11am.

On the podium will be a former Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ibadan, Prof. Abel Idowu Olayinka, FAS, an eminent Professor of Applied Geophysics, whose wealth of experience in university administration and research is expected to enrich discussions on the future of postgraduate education in Nigeria.

The Vice-Chancellor of Chrisland University, Prof. Oyedunni Sola Arulogun, will chair the event, which is the first in what the institution hopes will become a regular intellectual platform for engaging scholars, researchers, policymakers and other stakeholders on issues affecting postgraduate education and national development.

The discourse is expected to focus on strengthening research capacity, enhancing the quality of postgraduate training, promoting innovation and improving institutional frameworks necessary for producing globally competitive graduates capable of driving sustainable development.

In a press release issued by the University authorities, the programme underscores Chrisland University’s commitment to academic excellence, research advancement and meaningful contributions to policy discussions aimed at repositioning Nigeria’s higher education sector.

Interested participants who are unable to attend physically can also join the discourse virtually through a Zoom platform provided by the university.

The event is expected to attract vice-chancellors, academics, postgraduate students, researchers, education administrators and other stakeholders from across the country’s tertiary education sector.
