Mossad’s Master Spy Catherine Pérez Shakdam: The Woman Behind Israel’s Stunning June Strikes on Iran

In one of the most audacious espionage operations in recent history, Mossad agent Catherine Pérez Shakdam, a French-born former journalist, infiltrated Iran’s elite under the guise of a Shia Muslim convert, playing a pivotal role in Israel’s June 2025 military campaign against Iran’s nuclear and missile programs.

Pérez Shakdam’s mission, known internally as “Mission Iran,” involved years of deep cover work. She adopted a convincing identity as a spiritual European woman devoted to Shiite Islam, gaining the trust of Iran’s top military and political figures by befriending their families, especially the wives of high-ranking officials. Her access to private homes allowed her to collect critical intelligence—photos, blueprints, and schedules—undetected by Iran’s advanced electronic surveillance.

This human intelligence was instrumental in enabling Mossad to establish a clandestine drone base inside Iran and smuggle precision-guided weapons close to key targets. These assets neutralized Iranian air defenses and missile launchers, paving the way for the Israeli Air Force’s precise strikes on June 12-14, 2025, which decimated Iran’s missile infrastructure and eliminated senior military and nuclear scientists.

The operation marked a strategic shift in Israel’s approach, blending espionage, sabotage, and air power to cripple Iran’s capabilities with surgical precision. Iranian authorities launched a nationwide manhunt for Pérez Shakdam after uncovering her identity through family photos, but she vanished without a trace, becoming a legendary figure in intelligence circles.

Iran described the breach as “the most devastating human intelligence failure in its history,” underscoring the profound impact of Pérez Shakdam’s role. Her story exemplifies how espionage—leveraging charm, faith, and boldness—can alter the course of geopolitical conflict without firing a single bullet.

This operation highlights Mossad’s decades-long infiltration of Iran’s nuclear and missile programs, demonstrating the agency’s capacity to operate deep inside hostile territory and reshape the balance of power in the Middle East.
