A legal icon, Yinka Moyosore Kotoye has described the cash swap policy as the most ill-advised and irresponsible policy of the Buhari Administration.
Kotoye made this assertion at the fifth edition of monthly Boiling Point Arena online discourse on politics and governance which also featured erudite lawyer, Chief Femi Falana and Dr A
According to Kotoye, a combination of factors affected the low turn -out during the Presidential and National Assembly elections.
“There was skepticism of the process, cash crunch/swap, closure of the universities and fuel crisis.
“You cannot tell a woman selling ewedu on the street who has not made any sale because of cash swap to go and vote.
“The cash swap was the most ill-advised and irresponsible decision of Government that affected the turn-out and frustrated the process.”
Speaking further, Kotoye explained: “Many people that wanted to travel to vote could not travel and some were stranded on the way and this affected the turn out significantly”
ValidViewNetwork had earlier reported that the nation was thrown into series of confusion arising from naira redesign and cash swap policy of the Federal Government which caused hardship on the people. The Presidency and the Central Bank of Nigeria have been going forth and back on the policy with resultant effects on the masses and local economy.
