………Nnadozie scoops Goalkeeper of the The Year
The Nigeria’s Super Falcons, has won the 2023 Confederation of African Football, CAF Women National Team of the Year.
The Nigeria ladies had an impressive showing at the 2023 FIFA World Cup, where they were knocked out in the round of 16 at the hands of eventual runner up, England after losing on penalty shootouts.
Before the defeat, the Super Falcons did not lose a match in their three group games. They drew Olympic champions Canada, shock co-hosts Australia, and settled for a point against the Republic of Ireland.
Meanwhile, Paris FC of France shot-stopper, Chiamaka Nnadozie has been crowned Women’s Goalkeeper of the Year. She beat fellow goalkeepers in the form of Moroccan shot-stopper Khadija El-Rmichi and South Africa’s Andile Olaminii
The award is a reward for her heroics in the Women’s World Cup in Canada and Australia finishing the tournament with three clean sheets
The 23-year-old, in her acceptance speech, said, ”I just want to use this great opportunity to say a very great thank you to the organisers and also for remembering the female goalkeeper this year.”
