Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has formally petitioned the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to investigate the immediate past governor and current Minister of Blue Economy, Gboyega Oyetola. The petition alleges the misappropriation of a $20 million World Bank health grant.
The Osun State Government also accuses Oyetola of money laundering, financial misconduct, and violating the Public Procurement Act in disbursing funds meant for improving the state’s health sector. Oyetola chaired a special health intervention committee responsible for allocating these funds to renovate 320 primary healthcare centers across the state.

Adeleke claims that the companies selected by the committee performed substandard renovation work while receiving full payments, leading to the misappropriation of the $20 million grant.
Regarding the money laundering allegations, the Osun State Government asserts that over ₦1.5 billion was channeled through the Osun chapter of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria between January and October 2022. Financial records allegedly show large-scale money laundering by Oyetola’s administration, with daily cash withdrawals ranging from ₦10 million to over ₦30 million, without records of their use for official projects
