ABEOKUTA – The Ogun State Police Command has entered a new era of strategic leadership with the appointment of Commissioner of Police Olubode ‘Bode’ Ojajuni. A seasoned tactician and a household name in Nigerian law enforcement, CP Ojajuni brings a unique blend of international exposure and deep-rooted local operational experience to the “Gateway State.”
The Journey of a Master Strategist
Ojajuni’s odyssey in the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) began in 1996 when he enlisted as a cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP). While many know him as the “ace communicator” who served as the Public Relations Officer (PPRO) for the Lagos State Command between 2005 and 2007, his career is built on a foundation of rigorous fieldwork.
From commanding various Police Mobile Force (PMF) Squadrons in Lagos, Delta, and Ogun to leading the Anti-fraud Section at the legendary SCID Panti, Ojajuni has consistently proven that he is as comfortable in the boardroom as he is in the trenches. His tenure as the Area Commander of the “Lion Building” (Area A, Lagos Island) between 2020 and 2022 remains a reference point for urban policing, earning him the prestigious “Area Commander of the Year” award in 2021.
Nigeria’s Voice on the Global Stage
In recent years, CP Ojajuni has transitioned into the upper echelons of international policing. In 2025, he secured a monumental victory for Nigeria, winning a seat on the INTERPOL Africa Committee during the 27th African Regional Conference in Cape Town. This feat not only boosted Nigeria’s influence in global security but also positioned Ojajuni as a key architect in the fight against transnational crime.
His return to Ogun State—where he previously served as Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) at the State CID—is seen by many as a “homecoming of the specialist.” Having spent 2025 at the helm of INTERPOL (Nigeria National Central Bureau), he returns with refined strategies to tackle modern security threats like cybercrime and cross-border banditry.
A Legacy of Excellence
An alumnus of the Lagos State University and the University of Ado Ekiti, Ojajuni’s career has been punctuated by high-level recognition:
1.International Honor: Awarded the “Outstanding African Nations Builder’s Gold Award” (2007) in Ghana.
2.Media Acclaim: A two-time winner of the Crime Reporters Association of Nigeria (CRAN) Award.
3.Sports Leadership: Beyond the uniform, he is a dedicated sports administrator, notably serving as the Chairman of the Lagos State Archery Association.
As he takes over the mantle in Ogun State, expectations are high. Residents and stakeholders look forward to a tenure defined by the same “open-door policy” and “result-oriented policing” that have become the hallmarks of the Ojajuni brand.
