On Friday, President Joe Biden accused his rival, former President Donald Trump, of attempting to suppress diversity in the United States.
Biden made these comments in a speech at the National Museum of African American History and Culture in Washington, D.C., as part of his effort to garner support among Black voters ahead of the upcoming November election.
During his address, Biden criticized Trump and his allies, describing them as “extreme” and accusing them of trying to “erase history.” He stated, “My predecessor and his extreme MAGA friends are now going after diversity, equity, and inclusion all across America,” referencing Trump’s “Make America Great Again” movement. Biden asserted, “They want a country for some, not for all.”
Biden’s speech, delivered at a museum opened in 2016 by former President Barack Obama, emphasized the importance of diversity and the struggles for equity.
He also took aim at the current US Supreme Court, which includes three judges appointed by Trump, criticizing its recent rulings on abortion, voting rights, and diversity, labeling the court as “extreme.”
This speech was part of a series of events marking the 70th anniversary of the US Supreme Court ruling in Brown v. Board of Education, which ended racial segregation in schools.

These events also served as a significant outreach effort to Black voters, a key demographic that played a crucial role in Biden’s victory over Trump in 2020.
However, recent polls suggest some erosion in support among Black voters for Biden as the 2024 election approaches.
Earlier in the week, Biden welcomed key figures and relatives of the plaintiffs from the Brown v. Board of Education case to the Oval Office, underscoring his administration’s commitment to civil rights.
Additionally, Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris, the first Black, South Asian, and female vice president in US history, met with leaders from historically Black college sororities and fraternities, known as the “Divine Nine.”
Continuing his outreach, Biden is scheduled to address graduating students at Morehouse College in Atlanta, Georgia, and will later travel to Detroit to speak at the NAACP, the nation’s leading civil rights organization.
Trey Baker, a senior advisor to the Biden campaign, highlighted the administration’s achievements, saying, “After Donald Trump failed us, no administration has delivered for Black America like President Biden and Vice President Harris.”
