Wives of Ogun State Lawmakers has presented gifts to Stella Obasanjo Children’s Home in the state as part of activities marking the 1st year anniversary of the 10th State House of Assembly.
The spouses of the lawmakers led by the Wife of the Speaker, Dr. (Mrs) Olayinka Elemide said that the donations were meant to demonstrate their gratitude to God for enabling their husbands to witness the day and to thank Governor Dapo Abiodun for providing a purposeful leadership in the State
Flanked by other wives of the lawmakers Dr Elemide said that they have decided to visit the Stella Obasanjo Children’s Home so as to celebrate with children and to also make them happy
She said that the children were the future who needed to become useful to themselves and the society at large.
“We appreciate the careers of the homes looking after the children, it is not an easy task; but we we pray that God will reward you.”
“These children are the future, we pray that your labour over them will not be in vain; the best gift anybody can give is celebrating with the children and donating to this home because the government alone can’t do it without the support of well meaning Nigerians,”she said.
She urged well-meaning individuals to reach out to the Stella Obasanjo motherless home, and other less privileged in the Society.
She encouraged eminent Nigerians to support the kinds in the home adding that their wellbeing is a collective responsibility of all since the government alone can’t do it.
She said, “I just want to encourage more Nigerians to support the special kids and the Orphans. They are our collective responsibility. We should try to support them. I believe the Government cannot do everything. People should come onboard to support the efforts of the government.
“We are appealing to well meaning individuals and organizations to work with the Government to see how best we can support the children most especially those who are Orphans. Children of today are leaders of tomorrow, so if we want good leaders tomorrow we should take good care of the children of today.
She thanked the State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun for the peace being enjoyed in the State and the State Assembly in particular and also appreciating Ogun lawmakers for their dedication to the development of Ogun State.
Items donated included rice, biscuits, indomie noodles, juice, toiletries and others.
