Bayelsa State Governor, Douye Diri, Faces No Pressure on Cabinet Formation for Second Term
Governor Douye Diri of Bayelsa State is not experiencing any pressure regarding the timing or composition of his second-term cabinet, according to his spokesperson, Daniel Alabrah. Alabrah clarified this in a phone conversation on Monday, asserting that the governor will announce his cabinet when he deems fit.
This statement follows concerns among residents regarding the delay in constituting the state executive council, approximately one month after Governor Diri and Deputy Governor Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo were inaugurated for their second tenure on February 14, 2024, after their re-election on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party in the November 11, 2023, governorship poll.

He highlighted that Governor Diri is focused on selecting individuals who align with his vision, irrespective of their political affiliations. The spokesperson also noted the governor’s intention to consult relevant stakeholders, underscoring the collaborative effort required to build a unified and prosperous Bayelsa State.
Alabrah dismissed speculation about pressure on the governor to include specific individuals in his cabinet, asserting that Governor Diri is committed to selecting individuals who can help realize his vision for the state, regardless of political backgrounds. He reiterated the governor’s commitment to inclusivity and consultation in forming the new cabinet.
