In a significant demonstration of respect and recognition for outstanding political leadership, Ajagbe Adeyemi Teslim, the acclaimed political journalist and publisher of August24news.com, officially presented a monumental Governance Advisory Council (GAC) Frame to Rt. Hon. (Dr.) Mudashiru Ajayi Obasa, Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly. The presentation took place at the Speaker’s office in Ikeja, Lagos.

The Governance Advisory Council (GAC) stands as the apex decision-making body in Lagos State politics—a legacy institution first established during the tenure of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu (GCFR) as Governor of Lagos State. The 24-by-34-inch framed artwork elegantly showcases the portraits, names, local government areas, and senatorial districts of the 35 distinguished GAC members, encapsulating the unity and political stature of the council.

Notable figures featured include President Bola Ahmed Tinubu (Ikeja, Lagos West), Senator Oluremi Tinubu (Eti-Osa, Lagos Central), Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu (Lagos Island, Lagos Central), past governors including Babatunde Raji Fashola and Dapo Akinwunmi Ambode, as well as eminent political leaders such as Prince Tajudeen Oluyole Olusi (GAC Chairman), Alhaji Bushura Alebiosu, RT. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, and many others across Lagos’ local government areas.

The frame also pays homage to eight late GAC members who significantly contributed to Lagos politics and governance, including Chief Mrs. Kemi Nelson, Ambassador Rasak Demola Seriki, and Chief Sunny Akinsanya Ajose.

Publisher Ajagbe Adeyemi Teslim explained that the idea behind the large frame was to symbolize the collective unity of these political stalwarts and honor their invaluable service to Lagos State’s governance. He emphasized that this gesture aims to inspire other political leaders within the state and the nation to emulate the dedication manifested by GAC members in fostering good governance.

The August24news.com editorial team meticulously researched and crafted this tribute with a view to reshaping and promoting Lagos politics as a model of political excellence and rebranding governance dynamics.

Following the presentation to Speaker Obasa, arrangements are underway to extend similar presentations to key political figures, including Lagos State Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, Deputy Governor Dr. Obafemi Kadri Hamzat, commissioners, federal and state lawmakers, all 57 local council chairpersons, and other dignitaries and party loyalists in Lagos.

In response, Speaker Mudashiru Ajayi Obasa expressed heartfelt gratitude, praising the creativity and dedication of the August24news.com team. He committed to preserving the frame within his office archives as an enduring symbol of the state’s political heritage. Obasa also led a moment of silence to honor the memory of the late GAC members commemorated on the frame.

Speaking on the initiative, Alhaji Mutiu Are, GAC Secretary, described the council as “one of the beauties of Lagos politics.” Meanwhile, political analyst and Upshot Media publisher Mr. Mojeed Jamiu lauded Ajagbe Adeyemi Teslim’s effort, affirming that the GAC members deserve even greater recognition for their immense contributions to Lagos State’s remarkable governance.

The GAC’s role and influence have been historically significant as an instrument of political stability and governance excellence in Lagos, often regarded as a powerful and guiding force behind state leadership decisions.

This ceremonial presentation symbolizes gratitude and showcases political unity, reinforcing the GAC’s enduring legacy as a model for governance in Lagos State and Nigeria at large.
