The Federal government of Nigeria has confirmed the appointment of Associate Professor Idayat Odunola Agboola as the pioneer University Librarian of Federal University of Medicine and Medical Sciences, Abeokuta.
The appointment was contained in a statement signed by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy.
Agboola by birth hails from Ikirun in Osun State and from Fiditi, Oyo State by marriage.
She has a Master’s degree in Library and Information Science from the premier university, the University of Ibadan and a PhD in Information Resources Management from the Babcock University, Ilishan Remo, Ogun State.
She is a proud Alumnus of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta where she obtained B.Agric in Animal Production and Health. She is an active member of her set, the 1999/2000 set and demonstrates leadership in her cycle.
She is bringing to her pioneering role her wealth of experience spanning over 19 active years in Library Management.
Coming from one of the foremost university libraries in Nigeria which is poised to compete favourably with other great libraries globally, the pioneer Librarian promises to set the tone for a library that would be the envy of all and a pride to Nigeria.
She is leveraging on her multi-varied expertise in the practice of librarianship, academic research, and as a library educator in the university system coupled with an impeccable team spirit.
Associate Professor Agboola is well published and referenced in reputable journals both locally and internationally She is a Certified Librarian of Nigeria (CLN).
Until her appointment as pioneer Librarian of Federal University of Medicine and Medical Sciences, Abeokuta, Associate Pricessor Agboola was the Head, Readers’ Services Dept, ‘Nimbe Adedipe Library, Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, ValidViewNetwork reports.
Other principal officers of the Universitg appointed by the Predident are Professor Arogundade, a professor of medicine at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife who currently serves as the College Registrar of the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria, Ijanikin while the new Registrar is Dr Olukayode Obayomi, a former staff of the Federal University of Agriculture Abeokuta and Deputy Registrar at the National Mathematical Centre, Abuja. Mrs Olufunso, a Chartered Accountant and Deputy Bursar at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife is the Bursar.
President Tinubu through the instrument of appointment charged the new officers to provide visionary leadership and build a solid foundation for the university’s growth and development, ValidViewNetwork reports.
He expressed confidence in the University officers’ ability to leverage their collective expertise to ensure that the institution, established in 2023, produces world-class medical professionals.
