The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has vehemently rejected the recent declaration by Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, former Minister of Interior and ex-Osun State Governor, that the African Democratic Congress (ADC) will “take over Aso Rock and Lagos Government House” in 2027. The APC spokesperson in Lagos, Mogaji (Hon) Seye Oladejo, described the claim as an “empty boast,” urging Nigerians to view it with both laughter and pity.
Seye Oladejo reminded the public that Aregbesola, who rose through the ranks of the APC—serving as Lagos Commissioner, Osun Governor, and Minister—benefited immensely from the platform before his defection. Today, Oladejo accused Aregbesola of turning against the party that fostered his political career, calling such actions “political suicide of the highest order.”
Highlighting Aregbesola’s legacy, the APC spokesman noted that every attack the former minister levels against the APC only damages his own political résumé. He likened Aregbesola’s criticisms to “writing his autobiography with an eraser,” warning Nigerians not to take such self-destructive rhetoric seriously.
Addressing the ADC’s decision to position Aregbesola as their leading figure ahead of the 2027 elections, the Lagos APC dismissed this move as “a recipe for failure.” They branded the ADC a “political mirage” — loud on boasts but lacking substance — pointing to the party’s poor showing in recent by-elections as proof of its weakness.
Oladejo reiterated that Nigerian voters, especially Lagosians, prioritize tangible performance over empty promises. He emphasized that the APC’s achievements in infrastructure, education, healthcare, and reforms across Lagos and Nigeria remain well recognized. According to the APC, the electorate will choose “consistency over confusion, credibility over contradictions, and competence over comedy” in the forthcoming elections.

In closing, the Lagos APC declared with confidence that the party’s record will earn it renewed trust and electoral victories in 2027, while Aregbesola and the ADC will be consigned to political obscurity. The party stated emphatically that “movements don’t collapse because one man chooses to self-destruct.”
