The Director-General of the Border Communities Development Agency (BCDA), Abdulrazak Namdas, has publicly lauded President Bola Tinubu’s decision to retain Vice President Kashim Shettima as his running mate for the 2027 general election.
In a statement released on Sunday in Abuja, Namdas described the renomination as a strategic move that underscores the administration’s dedication to stability, continuity, and competent governance. He emphasized that the decision sends a clear signal that the current administration prioritizes performance and experience over political optics.
Reflecting on the performance of the incumbent administration since its inauguration in May 2023, Namdas argued that Vice President Shettima has transcended the traditional “ceremonial” role often associated with the office. He highlighted the Vice President’s active involvement in driving economic reforms, engaging with the private sector, and providing steady leadership, particularly in the North East.
“Senator Shettima has not been a ‘spare tyre.’ He has been an active partner in governance,” Namdas noted, adding that the duo represents the most formidable ticket for the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the party prepares to consolidate its mandate in 2027.
The BCDA boss expressed confidence that the administration’s “Renewed Hope Agenda” would continue to yield results, asserting that the Tinubu-Shettima ticket provides a balanced and tested leadership team capable of navigating Nigeria through ongoing economic and security challenges.
This endorsement comes amidst broader party efforts to unify behind the President’s re-election bid, with various APC stakeholders and governors recently signaling their support for the current leadership to continue their work beyond the next election cycle.
