FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
The All Progressives Congress (APC) Media Network has issued a scathing response to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar’s recent allegations of corruption and abuse against Senate President Godswill Akpabio, labeling his remarks “reckless and unbecoming.”
In a press release issued on March 26, 2025, the APC Media Network vehemently refuted Atiku’s claims, asserting that the former Vice President himself has a well-documented history of corruption. They cited former President Olusegun Obasanjo’s repeated assertions that Atiku is “too corrupt to be entrusted with any public office,” referencing Obasanjo’s autobiography, My Watch, which details alleged misuse of office by Atiku during his tenure.”
Historically, Atiku Abubakar is recognized as the most corrupt politician in Nigeria,” the APC Media Network stated. “His allegations against Senator Godswill Akpabio reflect a level of mischief, malice, and political opportunism taken too far.”
The network defended Senator Akpabio’s record, highlighting his “commitment to excellence and integrity in public service,” citing his tenure as Governor of Akwa Ibom State and his current role as Senate President. They dismissed allegations of abuse leveled by suspended Senator Akpoti Natasha, claiming they were “thoroughly discredited” and politically motivated. The statement also heavily criticized Atiku’s support of Akpoti Natasha’s trip to the Inter-Parliamentary Union conference.
Accusing Atiku of hypocrisy, the APC Media Network pointed to his own marital history, stating, “It’s indeed ironic that Atiku Abubakar, who has a history of marrying multiple women, including minors, and allegedly keeping hundreds of concubines worldwide, is the one accusing Senator Godswill Akpabio of abusing women.” They contrasted this with Akpabio’s “well-documented commitment to women’s empowerment.
“Furthermore, the APC Media Network accused Atiku of destabilizing political parties for personal gain, citing the prolonged crisis within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and his alleged plans for a 2027 presidential bid. They asserted that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is “poised for re-election for a second term,” rendering Atiku’s ambitions “dead on arrival.”The statement concluded by urging Atiku to “focus on purging himself of corruption and rebuilding his image rather than launching baseless attacks against dedicated public servants like Senator Godswill Akpabio.”

Otuekong Iniobong John, Director General of the APC Media Network, signed the release.
