The Chairman of the All Progressives Congress in Ondo State, Kolawole Babatunde, has called for unity among party members ahead of future elections, with a strong focus on the 2027 presidential poll.
He said this during his Chairmanship win thanksgiving event held at his home town in Ifira Akoko.
At the well-attended thanksgiving event, Hon. Babatunde emphasized that the APC must present a united front, warning that division within the party could affect its chances at the polls.
“All I am thinking at the moment is how we can unite the party. The party cannot go into the forthcoming election as a divided body. We need to come together as one.”
The APC chairman revealed that the party is setting an ambitious target of one million votes for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 election, expressing confidence that the goal is achievable.
“We have one major election ahead of us, the election of Mr. President. We are targeting one million votes, and that is what we are going to deliver.”
He also stressed inclusiveness, noting that there were no losers in the party’s chairmanship contest and called on aggrieved members to embrace reconciliation.
“There is no winner, there is no loser, we are all winners. We are already talking to those who are aggrieved. The Governor of Ondo State, Dr Lucky Orimisan Ayiedatiwa has given us a reconciliation order, We must come together to win, and win maximally.”
Also speaking, the Ondo State Commissioner for Water Resources, Ayodelji Akande, who represented the state governor, reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to the party’s success and called for collective support for the President’s re-election bid.
Similarly, a member of the House of Representatives, Abiola Peter Makinde, urged the chairman to engage stakeholders across all 18 local government areas to strengthen party unity.
“Unity is strength. With one mind, we can win any battle, but a divided front will be challenging.”
In the same vein, the Speaker of the Ondo State House of Assembly, Olamide Oladiji, described the APC chairman as a unifier and urged him to remain accessible to party leaders and members.
The thanksgiving event brought together party stakeholders and supporters, signaling renewed efforts by the APC in Ondo State to consolidate unity and strengthen its structure ahead of future elections.
